Custom Oil Portrait of Founder & Chairman

Mr. Fang is a highly successful businessman who initially helped bridge the financial markets between the United States and China. Marvin was chosen over the many talented portraitists in both countries to paint this portrait. Mr. Fang came to the US specifically to sit for this painting. This half figure commissioned portrait, with hands, is currently hanging in Mr. Fang Fengli's home in Shanghi, China.

Based on where this custom portrait was intended to hang, traditional Chinese clothing was chosen over Western business attire. The composition is deceptively simple and quite elegant. The soft nuances of the creamy silk fabric give the graphic shapes of the jacket a luxurious feel. In contrast the sculptural rendering of the flesh-tones make it seem as though the sitter is about to speak. The hand holding the eyeglasses breaks up the shape of the shirt and redirects the eye upwards. The overall effect of the portrait is the conveyance of calm strength.
